Just last week rumors were swirling about a potential fight between Urijah Faber and Vaughn Lee, but the UFC has decided to go a different direction. Faber (26-6) will instead step into the cage against Ivan Menjivar (25-9) at UFC 157 in Anaheim.
Faber is looking to rebound from his interim title-fight against Renan Barao while Menjivar is looking to put up another win after his Submission of the Night finish of Azamat Gashimov at UFC 154. While Menjivar fought three times in 2012, Faber only saw action a single time this year because of injuries and a coaching stint on TUF 15.
MMAJunkie Reports:
Sources close to the event said verbal agreements are in place for the fight, though UFC officials haven’t made a formal announcement. UFC 157 takes place Feb. 23 at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.
