Not long after it was revealed that John Dodson has pulled out of his UFC on FOX 9 bout with Scott Jorgensen due to injury, it’s being widely reported that former Bellator champ Zach Makovsky has agreed to fight the latter on December 14th.

MMA Weekly.com was the first to report that Makovsky will make his Octagon debut versus Jorgensen next week, and other outlets like MMA Junkie and MMA Fighting have also confirmed the match-up. If you recall, Jorgensen was originally scheduled to fight Ian McCall, however, the flyweight contender also went down with an injury.

So, if you’re not familiar with Makovsky (16-4), he should be a solid addition to the UFC 125 pound division. Not only is “Fun Size” a former Bellator bantamweight champ, but recently he defeated Matt Manzanares by unanimous decision to win Resurrection Fighting Alliance’s flyweight title.

Makovsky, who is a former NCAA Division 1 wrestler, went 6-0 to begin his run in Bellator. After losing the bantamweight title to Eduardo Dantas in 2012, he dropped a split decision to Anthony Leone and was let go by the promotion.

Jorgensen (14-7) will be making his flyweight debut at UFC on FOX 9, as the powerful vet elected to make the drop, after getting tapped out by Urijah Faber at the TUF 17 Finale in April. “Young Guns” has gone 2-3 in his last 5 bouts, with additional losses coming against Renan Barao and Eddie Wineland, and the victories versus Jeff Curran and John Albert.

UFC on FOX 9 will be hosted by Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena and will feature flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson taking on Joseph Benavidez in the main event.
