Muhammed Lawal’s Bellator Debut Set for January 17

Muhammed Lawal was on his way to recovering his lost light heavyweight Strikeforce title when he tested positive for steroids and was suspended for a year. When Lawal made some offensive remarks to the NSAC, he was released from his contract, setting him up to test free agency and make a bold move.

Bellator, and professional wrestling promotion TNA, both signed the light heavyweight though the future remained unsure as to when Lawal would make his debut in Bellator, at least until now. According to a report, “King Mo” is set to make his Bellator debut as part of the next Strikeforce light heavyweight tournament that kicks of January 17…

MMAFighting reported:

According to sources close to the event, “King Mo” will make his first Bellator appearance on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the UCI Bren Events Center in Irvine, Calif. Lawal will compete in the promotion’s light heavyweight tournament. No word just yet on who the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion will meet in the first round of the tournament.

Other than MPumbu and Wiuff I have no idea. Still, Bellator is good at finding guys from Europe and Brazil who have tons of potential. I’m sure they’ll do the same here.

Who else does Bellator have at 205 besides Mo and Babalu? Might as well advance those guys to the final right away.
