Josh Thomson Still Waiting to Hear from Strikeforce on January Fight

Lightweight Josh Thomson has been a Strikeforce staple for years, holding the promotion’s divisional title for a solid chunk of time and racking up impressive wins over the likes of Gesias Cavalcante, Pat Healy, K.J. Noons, and Gilbert Melendez. However, Thomson hasn’t been called on yet to compete in January at what is expected to be the organization’s final event.

Making the matter even more frustrating, the oft-injured Thomson is healthy and itching to fight.

“We’re just waiting on the higher powers to make their decision on what they want to do. As fighters, we’re the kid stuck between two parents. The Showtime and UFC guys are trying to figure out how this is all going to work out. It would be nice to get a fight.”

“I’m just trying to stay busy and the big thing is staying healthy. Now I’m healthy and unable to get a fight. It’s a little bit frustrating, but besides that it’s business.”

Thomson should be lightweight champ, He got robbed in that last fight with Melendez.

There has to be a lightweight out there Strikeforce can put him up against. Maybe even a newcomer like they did with Cormier/Barnett?

It would be a shame if Thomson isn’t on that card.
