Jorge Masvidal Signs to Bellator Fighting Championships
By: Jason F. Hatcher Posted On: December 2, 2008 at 4:36amAmerican Top Team lightweight “Gamebred” Jorge Masvidal (15-3-0) has signed to fight in Bellator Fighting Championships’ 2009 tournaments.
He joins Fighters.com’s third-ranked lightweight Eddie Alvarez (13-1) in Bellator’s 155-pound division.
Bellator’s fight cards will feature eight-man tournaments at featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and middleweight. Special non-tournament fights will also be featured.
In order to make the finals during the 12-event season, a fighter must win three bouts within a three-month period.
The upstart MMA organization will air twelve events on ESPN’s Spanish-language station, Deportes beginning in April 2009.
