Roy Nelson was scheduled to fight Shane Carwin at this season’s The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale, but Carwin was injured and it was announced he would be facing Matt Mitrione instead. The pair were both former housemates when they both competed on The Ultimate Fighter 10.
More recently, Mitrione (5-1) has been training with the growing Blackzilians camp and was the one who phoned matchmaker Joe Silva to get the fight with Nelson (17-7). Nelson said he wasn’t sure why Mitrione would do such a thing and also added he isn’t exactly sure what a Blackzillian is either…
He told MMAjunkie about Mitrione requesting the fight:
That’s something that you’d have to ask Matt, but you just have to be careful what you wish for. I think I was the only one that actually tried to help him in the TUF house.
Nelson spoke of Mitrione’s improvement since TUF:
“I think he’s come a long way from there. He’s a Blackzilian now, whatever that is. I’m not sure if it’s like a black millionaire or a black Brazilian or what. I’m still trying to figure out what that is. But he has a better record in the UFC then I do, and if you’re in the UFC, you’re the best in the world.”

roy nelson is the working mans champion and has more hart and fighting skills then mitrione, he is a fighter mitrione was a second rate football player.

I don’t know anyone picking Mitrione. Seems a bit overmatched.
Mitiirione has gotten better, maybe he turned the corner… the hwt div in the ufc is a rough place to learn mma.
Mitrione isn’t black, Brazilian, or a millionaire. Sounds like he needs a new camp.

I don’t see Mitrione winning this fight in any way. He has inferior stand-up, wrestling, BJJ, experience, etc..
