Brendan Schaub was a little over a week out from UFC on FOX 5 fight with Lavar Johnson when Johnson was forced off of the card with a pulled groin. Initially the Schaub’s camp wasn’t sure if the UFC was going to try and find an opponent for Schaub, but it can now be confirmed that the bout has been removed from the card.
The removal leaves an empty slot on the preliminary portion of the show, though no decision has been made as to if a fight will be moved up from the facebook portion to the broadcast.
Schaub’s manager, Lex McMahon, told MMAFighting:
“Brendan is very disappointed, but he is very dedicated and will be back to training. We will see how long Lavar is out and will assess Brendan’s options. I’m confident the UFC will get Brendan back in the Octagon soon. “
