Jorge Masvidal Steps In for Gilbert Melendez Against Pat Healy

It sounds like the rumor/ guessing game is over as too who will be in the cage at the last Strikeforce show against Pat Healy. It was announced late last week that Gilbert Melendez was out of the bout with a shoulder injury, and one of the rumored front runners was Jorge Masvidal. Turns  out the rumors are true, and it will be Masvidal across the canvas from Healy when the bell sounds on January 12th. Masvidal is 23-7 as a pro fighter and is coming off off a split decision win over Justin Wilcox in July of 2012.

MMAWeekly confirmed the bout:

With Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez still sidelined by a shoulder injury, Jorge Masvidal has been tapped to face Pat Healy at Strikeforce: Champions in January. Sources close to the match-up confirmed that verbal agreements are in place for the lightweight contest headed to Oklahoma City on Jan 12.
