FOX President Would Love to Do UFC Card on Superbowl Weekend in New York

FOX already has plans to broadcast Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 2, 2014 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., and the network is interested in doing a UFC On FOX event the same weekend. Being New York’s first Superbowl, it would be pretty fantastic if MMA was somehow legalized in the State of New York in time. If somehow all the stars aligned for the event to take place, Eric Shanks, president of FOX Sports Media Group would love to make the event happen.

Shanks told the media:
“We would love to. We think that Super Bowl week, in New York, is going to be unlike anything else. We’re going to own the city. We’re going to own that week of sports television, and there’s nothing better that we can think of than a big fight that week. So, we’re talking to Dana and Lorenzo about that, love for it to happen, we’re going to see if they can put it together.”

Dana White has been saying “This year, for sure,” about MMA happening in New York every year. Do you guys think it could get done in time? At all?
