Two more bouts official for "UFC Fight for the Troops 2": Barry vs Beltran and Jung vs Yahya

Two more bouts have become official for the second installment of “UFC Fight for the Troops” event, which will take place at Fort Hood, Killeen, Tex. on Jan. 22.

The headliner of the evening will put former title challenger Kenny Florian against top lightweight contender Evan Dunham. Serving as the co-main event is expected to be the fast-rising prospect in Matt Mitrione, whom was featured on the ultra-popular tenth season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, as he takes on veteran Tim Hague.

A multitude of bouts have been added to the stacked 11-bout fight card, and now today two-more have been officially confirmed by the promotion for the event.

A previously rumored bout pitting Pat Barry and Joey Beltran has come to fruition.

Barry, a talented kick boxer with K-1 experience, is coming off of a spirited and entertaining fight against former PRIDE champion Mirko Cro Cop. Culminating in defeat, however, Barry was able to drop the Croatian twice in the opening round, but failed to capitalize on the opportunity. Mirko eventually found his range and teed off on “HD” in the third round, dropping him with a barrage of punches and finishing him off with a rear-naked choke.

Beltran, though may not have the pedigree of a Mirko Cro Cop, will be tough nonetheless. After opening up his UFC career with a two-fight win streak against the heralded Rolled Gracie, whom he defeated on short notice with a TKO victory in the second round. Next, Beltran met with veteran Tim Hague and defeated him by unanimous decision, using a combination of effective striking and a steady stream of takedowns thrown in the mix. However his streak was halted when he met with the aforementioned Mitrione. In an exciting affair, Matt dictated the pace early with his long range and crisp striking, which resulted in a unanimous decision victory in his favor. Both men earned “Fight of the Night” for their efforts at UFC 119 last September.

Chan Sung Jung, who is more popularly known as simply “The Korean Zombie” hopes to pick up his first win under the Zuffa banner. After opening up his WEC career with a rousing and close split-decision loss to former title challenger Leonard Garcia last April (in a fight that is currently a candidate for “Fight of the Year” at the World MMA Awards hosted by Fighters Only Magazine), Jung was then met with George Roop. “The Ultimate Fighter” veteran upset the Korean with a head-kick knockout in the second round, giving Jung his second loss in a row.

Rahni Yahya now returns to the featherweight class to take on Jung. Having vied for the WEC’s bantamweight title just a couple of years ago when he submitted current top contender Mark Hominick in the Brazilian’s debut, he has since been met with mixed results. After the loss to Beebe, the then 135-pound champion, Yahya went on a three-fight win streak inside the octagon with victories over Yoshihiro Maeda, Eddie Wineland, and John Hosman. Since a slick run, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace has since dropped back-to-back fights in losses to former title challengers Joseph Benavidez and Takeya Mizugaki.

All men are in need for a win, particularly Yahya or Jung for whom three losses in a row could spell UFC pink slips. So MMA peeps, who do you think will walk away the victor in their respective matches? Sound off in the comment section below.
