Michael Bisping has continued his full court press on UFC brass to make his bout against Vitor Belfort for an interim belt given Anderson Silva‘s uncertain future as far as putting his linear strap up for grabs. Now that Chris Weidman is out of his December match with Tim Boetsch, Bisping thinks he has an even stronger case for his battle with Belfort to have some gold on the line.
“The Count” recently wrote a blog post where he called for the temporary title and made it clear either he, or Belfort, would be more than happy to keep the division rolling while Silva sorts out his plans.
“Me vs Vitor Belfort in Brazil in January should be for the interim middleweight title…. On top of that it looks like the Strikeforce guys are coming in shortly, too. As it stands, the middleweight division’s champion has no plans whatsoever to defend his belt until at least the end of next summer.
“With Weidman out, I think me vs Vitor is a worthy interim title fight. Way more worthy than Urijah Favour’s 2,354,987th title shot and I would defend my interim title against all-comers and keep the division moving. And I think I can speak for Vitor, too, because if he kicks my arse in January, he will defend the belt too.”

No need for an interim championship cause GSP isn’t gonna fight Silva.
Bisping should be worried about Vitor, not an interim belt.
damn right he deserves it
