Photo Album - UFC 106: Forrest Griffin Wins Split Decision Over Tito Ortiz in Rematch, Both Ready For a Third

Fighters.com’s fifth-ranked light heavyweight and former UFC champ Forrest Griffin (17-4) won a three-round split decision over “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz (15-7-1) by judges scores of 30-27 and 29-28 in favor of Griffin and 29-28 in favor of Ortiz at UFC 106 in Las Vegas Saturday.

Ortiz had won a split decision over Griffin in 2006.

Though Ortiz admitted his loss in the Octagon after the fight Saturday, saying, “Forrest was the better man tonight.  I’ve got to give it to him,” he added during the post-fight press conference, “I thought I won the fight. I pulled it off two rounds to one.”  He added, “Letting down fans, knowing that I came and I gave my heart and soul. To be robbed like that. It is what it is. I’ll be back.”

Griffin said, “I thought I won,” but added, “I think we’ll have to do a third.”

UFC President Dana White complained after the fight about one judge’s 30-27 score.  “The 30-27 score is outrageous.  It’s insane,” White said after the fight.

Ortiz suggested he and Griffin coach on SpikeTV’s “The Ultimate Fighter 11″ before having a rubber match.

White responded, “I don’t know. We’ll have to look at it. We’ll see.”
