Cung Le tops list of UFC 139 salaries

Typically the highest paid fighter at UFC event tends to be an individual who came away with a win or at least a competitor with an impressive list of in-ring accomplishments. However, such was not the case at UFC 139 where 39-year old Cung Le exited the arena with $350,000 in base pay despite his loss to Wanderlei Silva, putting him at $100,000 more than the victorious Dan Henderson who came in at #2 on the list of salaries provided by the California State Athletic Commission.

While extremely popular in the San Jose area where the event was held, a factor possibly playing into his deal with the UFC, Le held an overall record of 7-1 entering his co-headlining clash on Saturday night, hadn’t fought in nearly 18 months, and was only a single win removed from being knocked out by middle-of-the-road opponent Scott Smith.
