UFC 154 prelims on FX draw less than a million viewers

The UFC does not release pay per view totals to the media often, but overtime people have developed metrics to figure out general ball park numbers of the total buys. The return of Georges St-Pierre in his fight against Carlos Condit is sure to draw a large number of buys, but some insiders are saying the UFC was hoping for a number in the UFC 148 total buys range. That was a large number. One of the metrics used to determined the amount of ppv buys are the ratings from any preliminary fights shown on television. If that’s the case, they probably didn’t come close to the numbers they were expecting for the return of their number one pay per view draw at UFC 154.

MMAJunkie reported:

Ratings for FX’s broadcast of this past weekend’s UFC 154 preliminary card fell just short of the 1-million-viewer mark.. FX’s two-hour broadcast , which featured four live preliminary-card fights, averaged 980,000 viewers. That’s down from the 1 million who tuned in for the two-hour prelims show for UFC 153 in October.

To date, FX has aired 12 PPV prelims specials. UFC 154′s falls eighth out of 12. Overall, the 12c broadcasts have averaged 1.2 million viewers per event.

The all-time UFC-FX preliminary-card ratings include:

UFC 148 ratings: 1.8 million viewers
UFC 145 ratings: 1.6 million
UFC 144 ratings: 1.5 million
UFC 143 ratings: 1.4 million
UFC 146 ratings: 1.3 million
UFC 153 ratings: 1.0 million
UFC 149 ratings: 1.0 million
UFC 154 ratings: 980,000
UFC 150 ratings: 974,000
UFC 147 ratings: 969,000
UFC 152 ratings: 955,000
UFC 142 ratings: 880,000

I wonder what sort of ratings the UFC would consider ideal. Was a decent set of prelims too.
