It appears the UFC isn’t done organizing events for the opening stretch of 2012 after already announcing their debut on FX and a stop in Rio de Janeiro for January. According to multiple sources, the world’s foremost MMA organization is also looking at Chicago for a January 28 return to FOX.
The UFC is coming off a massively successful inaugural show on the network with a broadcast peaking at nearly nine million viewers, the most ever for a MMA event, even though the only televised bout lasted 64 seconds.
A Look at the UFC’s Debut on FX
News of UFC on FOX 2 first surfaced in a report from Yahoo with other outlets having since come forward with information confirming the story.
Though it’s still too early to know for sure who would headline the card, it looks like Chael Sonnen vs. Anderson Silva II is the desired pairing. Given the magnitude of the match-up it would certainly make sense considering the FOX label.
For those keeping score, assuming things unfold as expected, the UFC will hold events on 1/14 (UFC 142), 1/20 (UFN 26), 1/28 (UFC on FOX 2), and 2/4 (UFC 143).
