A UFC middleweight title showdown between Fighters.com and UFC Middleweight Champion “Spider” Anderson Silva (25-4) and tenth-ranked “Phenom” Vitor Belfort (18-8) is now shaping-up for UFC 109 in Las Vegas February 6.
Belfort announced the new date to the Portugese-language Terra magazine’s “Mano a Mano” blog. Originally scheduled for UFC 108 in Las Vegas January 2, the bout was delayed due to slow recovery from elbow surgery by the champ Silva.
Although currently in the verbal agreement process, the fight is still contingent upon Silva’s recovery process. However, Silva’s recovery has proved promising as reported previously at the beginning of November when manager Ed Soares told the media that the champion’s healing was going extremely well with no need for long-term concern.
