There has been a ton of speculation about the possibility of UFC champion Georges St-Pierre facing fellow title-holder Anderson Silva in 2013 if GSP successfully retains his welterweight belt against apt adversary Carlos Condit at UFC 154. However, Silva himself has said little about the match-up, letting fans, media, and his manager do all the talking.
Still, if there’s any doubt about Silva’s desire to put his pound-for-pound best label on the line against St-Pierre, “The Spider” eliminated it in the latest episode of UFC Primetime: St-Pierre vs. Condit.
“Anderson and Georges St-Pierre, the superfight. I like the idea. I like it. For Georges St-Pierre it’s good, for me it’s good, for UFC it’s the best,” explained Silva shortly before heading up to Montreal to watch St-Pierre collide with Condit. “Me and Georges, this is the big show. Georges wins, Georges say okay…I’m here.”
Silva has expressed a willingness to sit out for a year and focus on personal projects if necessary to draw St-Pierre out for a bout. St-Pierre has recently said he’s only focused on beating Condit at the moment and isn’t anywhere close to considering the move up in weight required for a fight with the dynamic Brazilian.
