Those paying attention, aren’t surprised Ronda Rousey just became the first Woman in the UFC. She did a poor job of playing coy to the press, and even UFC President’s Dana White’s ‘we’ll see’ comments were thinly veiled. Most things aren’t confirmed in octagon nation unless you hear it from White, and he sewed up that loose end today to the media.
“Yes, its official, Ronda Rousey has signed with the UFC,” White admitted in an interview with Jim Rome. “She has the whole package. The credentials. The pedigree. I was never interested in women’s mma for two reasons. There wasn’t enough talent in any of the weight divisions, and we never had a female athlete with the whole package… She’s beautiful on the outside, but she is a Diaz brother on the inside.”
As far as talent is concerned, he says UFC has fights lined up for her for two years. White concluded “We’re not sure how fights will go, but there is enough talent in that division…but in the others ther’s not.”
