A pair of four-fight winning streaks will be put to the test inside the Octagon over Super Bowl Weekend as the UFC has added some featherweight fisticuffs to the organization’s upcoming show on February 4 in the form of Dustin Poirier vs. Erik Koch.
The UFC announced the match-up earlier today, adding yet another intriguing affair to a card already headlined by Georges St. Pierre’s title-defense against Nick Diaz and also likely to feature Carlos Condit clashing with Josh Koscheck as well as Joe Lauzon locking horns with Anthony Pettis.
Poirier is coming off a slick submission of Pablo Garza from this past weekend’s UFC on FOX event, a performance improving his mark in the UFC to 3-0 and overall record to 11-1. In addition to Garza, the 22-year old Louisiana native also holds past victories over Jason Young and Josh Grispi.
The 13-1 Koch has also been on a tear as of late including a knockout of Raphael Assuncao at UFC 128 and most recently a hard-fought decision win over Ultimate Fighter winner Jonathan Brookins at UFN 25.
