UFC 105 Results: England's Michael Bisping Cuts Through Canada's Denis Kang

Posted On: November 14, 2009 at 9:52pm

The Ultimate Fighter 3 champion “Count” Michael Bisping (17-2) of England TKO’d Canadian middleweight Denis Kang (34-11-1) by punches at 4:24 at UFC 105 at M.E.N. Arena in Manchester Saturday.

“I’m absolutley over the moon,” an ecstatic Bisping told his hometown crowd.  “This is my life.  It really hurts me that people don’t give me the respect I deserve.”

At the beginning of round two, Bisping scored a single-leg takedown to put Kang on his back.  Bisping cut up Kang’s face and staggered Kang with a relentless ground’n'pound.  The exchange set-up the final moments of the round when Bisping slammed Kang and reignited his g’n'p attack.  Kang rolled into turtle position; and, Bisping added knees to his offense until referee Dan Miragliotta stepped in to grant Kang a reprieve.

Kang had wasted a first round in which he floored Bisping with a compact overhand right as Bisping lunged forward to attack.  Kang dove into Bisping’s guard and passed to side control, but Bisping regained half guard.  The pair shuffled through guards for the entire first round and Kang only landed a right hand and an elbow, nearly getting caught in an armbar.

After his win, Bisping admitted, “I’ve got a long way to go.  Bear with me guys.  I’ve got a long way to go.”

dana white says we shouldnt believe what mma.tv says about fighters like fedor or rogers being good. white and the ufc are really the ones hyping up mediocre fighters and putting them in main events. who did lesnar beat to get a title shot? name one good contender carwin beat to get a title shot? then you have all these no bodys/scrubs come out of the ufc reality show and get so much hype as if they are great fighters. (bonner, jardine, giffin, leben, ect) fedor is with a doubt the best heavyweight of all time. true mma fans will vouch. most ufc fans arent true mma fans. these ufc nuthugers only enjoy ufc for the brawls. they need to get out of their trailer park, get there minds off the tv and go out and learn what mma really is. i think strikeforce brings something different for real mma fans. theres no hype/misleading there. what about all the controversial calls ufc has had lately. griffin over jackson, machida over shogun, franklin over w. silva. strange how the loser was a pride fc veteran. ufc has gone political like boxing, and thats one reason i wont waste money ordering another ppv. the other reason is that they will show it on spike tv for free anyways. i just saw ufc tonight and thought couture was given the decision. how couldnt they give it to him when he has 5 more fights under contract. ufc sucks!

Its funny you make out tuf to be a publicity stunt. some of the ufc’s best fighters have come out of this show and have long proven themselves in the mma world. Most have fought at a professional level for a long time and have had so so careers. rashad evans, forest griffin, bisping, andre winner, joe stevenson, the sanchezs. Alot of good fighters are in the ufc and alot are not. the ufc is a pioneer of the sport and have come a long way. i do agree that the decisions have been poor lately and some don’t make sense. As any fighter or coach will tell you, dont leave it to the judges. As for fedor, yes he is great, but the ufc hasd tried to sign him and he chose not to. As for brett rogers. yeah he can punch. woohoo. Yup thats it. As fedor proved, you need more than that. Guys like lesnar and gsp to only mention a couple, are world class athletes and are in a league of their own. i dont really like brock but he is a born athlete and with a developing game, who knows, maybe he will be truly great on day. Anyway, granted there are improvments to make, the ufc has world class fighters and no not all of them are in the ufc, but it is definetly a world class show.

I have to eat my own words. Bisping as much as I hate his big mouth (funny I should say that), looked great. His work off the back and on the ground in general was really impressive. Hard for a vet like Kang to even hold onto. A black belt in BJJ is nothing to scoff at. It takes allllot of work and dedication to hold it. Kang with his black belt was not only bested but at his own game. I’m sure Bisping will slingshot this win into a great next fight. Well done. I would rather see you fight than speak as a coach any day. Good luck.
