Frank Mir not interested in third fight with Lesnar

Frank Mir, some time ago, you mention the name Brock Lesnar in a mile radius of the former champion, and you could hear the limbs he would break in a raging stampede.

To say that these two fighter have disdain towards one another would be a huge understatement.

At least, that’s what you would think, but Mir has since tampered his temper and found some solace in his career and where he stands in the heavyweight division.

Both competitors have split victories, with Lesnar getting the better of the two in their last meeting at ufc 100, when the former NFL hopeful pounded Mir en route to a TKO victory inside of the second round.

However, with Lesnar’s recent setback against Velasquez, Mir see’s a potential bout with Lesnar as a step down essentially in competition, given Brock’s performance at UFC 121.

“Honestly right now, probably no”, said Frank while speaking with MMASucka, giving his feelings on a potential third bout with the former UFC heavyweight champion.

Frank went on to elaborate more on his decision to not pursue a trilogy with Lesnar. It dates back to his performance against Shane Carwin, a man whom Mir is all too familiar with. While Mir succumbed to strikes against the behemoth heavyweight at UFC 111, Lesnar fared better, submitted the Greg Jackson product in the second-round at UFC 116 last July. However, Brock faced a troublesome first round when he was nearly finished with a barrage of Carwin strikes.

“Just because the (Shane) Carwin fight, (Lesnar) didn’t look all that spectacular. I think a lot of people might have thought that he lost that fight”, said Mir.

But the bout with Velasquez was really the icing on the cake. The now Mexican-American heavyweight champion dominated Lesnar at UFC 121, managing a take down of his own, and eventually pouring it on the former WWE personality en route to a first-round TKO victory.

“And then the (Cain) Velasquez fight obviously, Velasquez made (Brock) basically shout ‘Stop, Enough, Enough’ before he tapped due to strikes and that looked really bad”, concluded Mir.

So, MMA peeps, looks like a third bout with the two former champions may not be in the works–but then, who would you like to see both competitors matched up with? Sound off in the comment section below.

Well i would love to see mir lesnar 3, but im afriad that it would be another heavily promoted fight by mir talking about him being a “martial artist” and blah blah blah….
and then brock taking him down, mounting him and then finishing the fight by ground and pound in the first round. i like frank mir dont get me wrong but over the past year or so his Bark is way worse then his Bite! and i keep wanting him to compete with the big names in the heavy weight divsion but its just not happening and hes falling into the ranks of chuck liddel, randy couture antiono noguera, cro cop all these great fighters past their primes where dana white puts on what i call “gimmick” fights for example the fight between randy couture and tony? ahhhh so no i dont wanna see that like frank mir fight crocop or somthing a good gimmick fight doesnt hurt right??
