Strikeforce Results: Gegard Mousasi Finshes Sokudjou on the Ground
By: Chad Edward Posted On: November 7, 2009 at 10:24pmStrikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi (23-2-1) TKO’d “African Assassin” Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (6-5) by referee stoppage at 3:43 of round two at Strikeforce in Chicago Saturday night.
Sokoudjou reveresed a trip takedown attempt by Mousasi at the cage, but Mousasi swept into top position and windmilled lefts and right hooks to Sokoudjou’s body and head until the referee ended the fight.
Sokoudjou may have won the first round with a mixed martial arts attack that featured a left hook to Mousasi’s body, leg kicks, a takedown reversals. But, Mousasi matched Sokoudjou with counter left hooks, leg kicks, and sweeps on the mat.
