Two-time Olympian Daniel Cormier continues to impress.
One of the newest additions to the American Kickboxing Academy stable, Cormier, a decorated wrestler whom was dubbed the team captain of the 2008 United States Olympic team, has improved his undefeated record to 6-0 in his young mixed martial arts career.
Having returned to Australia just two days ago in order to defend his heavyweight title under the Xtreme MMA banner, Cormier made quick work of yet another opponent.
Soa Palelei, a UFC veteran was deemed as Daniel’s toughest test to date. However, the burgeoning heavyweight star, who is under contract with Strikeforce however has a clause in his contract which allows him to compete elsewhere, dispatched of the Aussie fighter inside of the first-round.
Palelei was quickly taken to the ground, mounted and eventually Cormier rained down his patented ground and pound assault, leaving “The Hulk” no choice but to tap out do to the onslaught.
With the victory, Daniel keeps his undefeated streak alive, and has recorded five-straight victories that have been finished inside of the first-round. To date, the 31-year-old has yet to go the distance.
So, MMA peeps, where would you like to see Cormier go from here? The talented wrestler began his career in September of last year, and has maintained a consistent pace of fights, especially gaining momentum this year, having fought five times in the last 9 months. With a bevvy of opponents in Strikeforce, the talent pool should exist to give Cormier the challenge that he needs to push himself. Sound off in the comment section below.
