Astute fans will remember that before Chael Sonnen became the trash talking king of the UFC, Dan ‘the outlaw’ Hardy was the one ‘talking his way into fights.’ When Hardy turned his attention on the welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, it was only a matter of time before Hardy found himself in the Octagon with the champ. Hardy lost the bout with GSP, but has now joined forces with the welterweight king to help him prepare for his UFC 154 bout with Carlos Condit.
Tristar head coach Firas Zahabi talked about the odd couple on “Training Day: Inside Tristar Gym Live.”
“He’s a special guest this week to spar with Georges. He fought Condit. When he was fighting Condit, it was neck-and-neck. Yes, he got stopped by Condit, but I think it was one inch away from being the other way around. It was very close, extremely close fight, and I think he’s a very good look for us to see what it’s going to like when Georges fights Condit… We click, He’s a great guy. We get along very well personally.”
GSP will unify the welterweight titles with Condit on November 17 at UFC 154.
