Mark Munoz ready to “throw bombs” with Chris Leben

Tomorrow night, the UFC will visit Birmingham, England for the first time since UFC 89 back in October of 2008 and the U.K. in general this year. Coincidentally, Chris Leben was also a headliner at that event, losing a decision to Michael Bisping, with this go around featuring Leben facing off against fellow contender Mark Munoz in the main event.

Leben is coming off of an impressive knockout victory over PRIDE veteran Wanderlei Silva, while “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” is riding a three-fight winning streak after earning the judges’ favour against BJJ ace Demian Maia. Their fight also marks the first time a non-title headliner has been scheduled for five rounds, though realistically the power in both middleweights’ hands will likely end things before the time period expires.

The headliners recently got together for a pre-fight press conference where Munoz explained of the match-up, “(Leben) throws bombs, ya know he does, and I throw bombs too. So bombs away. Ya know, its gunna be an exciting fight for sure because he brings it and I bring it.”

Leben Doesn’t See Munoz Standing with Him

In other UFC 138 action, surging bantamweights Brad Pickett and Renan Barao battle it out, while Muay Thai wrecking ball Thiago Alves takes on the debuting Swedish Judoka Papy Abedi. Alves’ UFC career is under-pressure after losing three of his last four fights while Abedi is undefeated thus far in his MMA career.
