The event hasn’t even been officially announced yet, but it looks like the UFC will be back in Brazil on January 19 based on the number of match-ups having surfaced attached to the date/location including recently revealed bouts between Yuri Alcantara-George Roop and Gabriel Gonzaga-Ben Rothwell. Now, it looks like featherweights Diego Nunes and Nik Lentz are also set to scrap at the organization’s return to South America.
Porto do Vale Tudo was first to report the fight.
Nunes (18-3) is coming off of a decision win over Bart Palaszewski at UFC on FX 5 in early October. Nunes went 11-0 before he joined WEC and all of his bouts took place in Brazil. However, this will be the first time he will fight in front of his countrymen since.
A Closer Look at Nunes’ Last Win
Meanwhile, Lentz (22-5-2) was last seen picking up a TKO over Eiji Mitsuoka at UFC 150. Prior to that Lentz had dropped two in a row at 155 pounds, prompting his move down to featherweight.
