Chael Sonnen says Dan Henderson will corner him against Jon Jones, help coach on TUF 17

Chael Sonnen and Dan Henderson have been longtime friends and training partners for years. However, when it was announced that Sonnen would be the next challenger to Jon Jones’ title and coaching against him on The Ultimate Fighter 17, fans wondered if the dynamic would create a rift between the two fighters considering “Hendo” was in line to contend for the divisional belt. In a recent chat through MetroPCS, Sonnen admitted he hadn’t even talked to Henderson since he was tapped for the show and the title-shot.

Fortunately, it looks like they’ve mended any issues stemming from the situation, and the public may even see the former PRIDE champion on the reality show as one of Sonnen’s assistant coaches.

“Henderson and I are obviously up to something,” Sonnen admitted to Off The Record.  “We’re in cahoots. Henderson will be one of the coaches on this show with me and he will be cornering me on April 27 when I take what is rightfully mine, which is the light heavyweight championship. So Dan and I are obviously up to something, the question is what?”

Sonnen Agrees He Talked His Way Into Title-Fight

Henderson has been very vocal about his disdain for the bout between Sonnen-Jones, obviously having an axe to grind since he was basically passed over, but he always said he didn’t blame Sonnen.

Taping for TUF 17 is already underway in Las Vegas, and the season is set to kick off in early January on FX.
