Fighters.com and UFC Middleweight Champion “Spider” Anderson Silva (25-4) will not face unranked “Phenom” Vitor Belfort (18-8) at UFC 108 in Las Vegas January 2, according to an MMA Junkie report.
According to Silva’s management, January 2 is simply too soon for the champ to return to the Octagon. Manager Ed Soares told the media that Anderson is recovering well from his recent elbow surgery but not quick enough for the first of the year bout.
“He’s not fighting January 2,” stated Soares. “He won’t be ready.”
