Featherweight champion Jose Aldo may currently be lined up for action against Frankie Edgar in the near future but the UFC appears to already be looking ahead by making sure another contender is in place to face the winner (or serve as a substitute if necessary). Previously paired with Aldo, Erik Koch will instead make his return to the ring against Ricardo Lamas.
A bout between the two talented 145ers has been added to UFC 155. The card is scheduled for December 29 with Junior dos Santos defending his heavyweight title against Cain Velasquez in the main event.
MMAOpinion was first to report the match-up.
Koch was set to face Aldo at UFC 153 before withdrawing due to injury. The 13-1 finisher has found victory in his last four fights but hasn’t seen action since September 2011 when he outpointed Ultimate Fighter 12 winner Jonathan Brookins.
