Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos fought into the fifth round with current champion Cain Velasquez at UFC 166: Velasquez Vs Dos Santos III on Saturday night in Texas, but when asked about his performance after the leaving the hospital on Sunday, he was under the impression he was finished in the second. Even his corner is saying that after the second round, Dos Santos was fighting on autopilot until the end of the fight.
Dos Santos told Combate:
“I’m feeling good. I came to the hospital to have some stitches in the cut I had. The pain is only in the heart, because I didn’t manage to give a good performance in the Octagon.
“Now it’s time to go back to the gym and train, dedicate myself to come back stronger than ever and, who knows, some day dispute the championship again and be able to honor the support from everybody who believed in me.”
