“King Mo” Muhammed Lawal (4-0) has signed a multi-fight contract to compete in Strikeforce’s light heavyweight division, according to a report at Sherdog.
He could debut as soon as December.
Lawal TKO’d late replacement “Smashing Machine” Mark Kerr (14-11) in 25 seconds at M-1 Global Breakthrough in Kansas City August 28.
Lawal steps into the promotion as an immediate 205-pound contender and will presumably be fast-tracked to a title shot versus Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi (22-2-1).
Tuesday Fighters.com broke the story of a matchup between “Feijao” Rafael Cavalcante (7-2) and Aaron Rosa (10-3) at Strikeforce Challenger Series 5 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City November 20 and speculated the winner could be next to challenge Mousasi…”unless the signing of an elite 205er changes things.”
Lawal’s signing seems to change things.
Fighters.com mentioned the possibility of a Mousasi versus Lawal matchup to Mousasi when both fighters appeared at Breakthrough. Mousasi was impressed with Lawal and regarded him as a worthy future challenger.

I really hope Strikeforce knows what they are doing with King Mo. The guy could make you a lot of money if you handle him right.
