Yves Edwards colliding with John Cholish at UFC on FOX 5

Yves Edwards had a stranger day than most last Friday. He woke up thinking he was going to be showing off his skills in the Octagon, and before his day was over he learned he wouldn’t be fighting and his opponent Jeremy Stephens was in jail.  The UFC promised to make quick work of finding Yves a new opponent, and they did, as Edwards will now be fighting John Cholish at UFC on FOX 5.

Cholish (8-2), like Edwards, will be looking to rebound from a loss in his previous pairing. Fans last saw the 28-year old Cholish when he fought Danny Castillo at UFC on FOX 3 and came up short on the judges’ scorecards. The stumble marked the New Yorker’s first loss in the UFC as well as his first defeat since his MMA debut.

MMAFighting was first to report the rumble.

Edwards (41-18-1) will have been out of the Octagon for more than a year when he steps into the cage against Cholish. Edwards, now 36 and the most experienced fighter on the roster, is also looking to right his ship. Edwards lost his last fight against Tony Ferguson by decision at the Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale.
