As the saying goes, “Everything is bigger in Texas,” and such is definitely the case where tonight’s UFC 136 event was concerned.

With a pair of title-fights, two contendership-cementing clashes, and a handful of highly-competitive preliminary pairings that could easily draw main card slots on most shows, UFC 136 turned out to be perhaps the best card of 2011. UFC lightweight champ Frank Edgar defended his belt against rival Gray Maynard in the main event slot after suffering damage early, while Jose Aldo held onto his featherweight gold against former 155-pound ace Kenny Florian after a hotly-contested clash.

Other PPV offerings included Chael Sonnen beating Brian Stann for a crack at middleweight champ Anderson Silva and red-hot 155er Melvin Guillard failing in his atempt to avoid the submission attack of finish-friendly Joe Lauzon.
