A New Year’s Eve rematch between “Demolition Man” Alistair Overeem (28-11; 1NC) and “Cro Cop” Mirko Filipovic (23-6-2; 1NC) is in discussion, reported Fighters Only Tuesday.

“As of now it is in discussion, but I’m very adamant on getting the fight to finish what I’ve started,” Overeem stated.
“I want to finish Cro Cop and put his name on my list, especially now because he has been arrogant and big-mouthed.”
Overeem added, “I don’t like him, the fact that he picks his opponents, he stays in another, more expensive hotel and doesn’t want to socialize with other fighters. He thinks he is a superstar. He is an arrogant fighter who talks a lot to keep face.”
Overeem’s heavyweight bout with Filipovic at DREAM.6 in September ended in a No Contest when Filipovic was hit with accidental knees to the groin and could not continue.
Before a rematch with Cro Cop can happen, Overeem has to fight in November. His next match is at Shooto Holland’s Glory 10 event 9 November in Arnhem, Holland, against former UFC and PRIDE fighter “Big Daddy” Gary Goodridge (23-18-1).
Goodridge last fought in July, losing a unanimous decision to “Headhunter” Paul Buentello (26-10).

I hope they do have a rematch. no match should be decided the way it was without a definite re match. Although Cro Cop has to come in more agressive. The way he was before he came to UFC was great. He seems to have lost the spark a bit.
He’s lost his spark because fighters aren’t afraid of him anymore.
I don’t know where his head is at. It’s frustrating to see him like this.
Does he really want to fight or is he collecting a paycheck and riding former glory? He’s done nothing to adjust his game. Except become less aggressive.
He’s stagnant. At this level stagnant usually is followed by finished. It’s just sad.
well said…what is he like 1-2 in the octagon or something? Not too impressive…not the same Cro Cop who went 3 rounds with Fedor.
Cro Cop is one-dimensional, but lethal in that one dimension. Look at his losses before the fall, to Emelianenko and Hunt. They came forward, unafraid and aggressive and shut down Cro Cop. He hasn’t changed; he’s just been figured out. Fighters take him out of his one dimension now; and, he’s virtually helpless outside of it.
