“California Kid” Urijah Faber (22-3) signed a multi-fight, multi-year contract to return to Zuffa, LLC.-owned World Extreme Cagefighting, announced WEC general manager Reed Harris on MMA Junkie Radio Monday.
Former featherweight champion Faber completed his previous contract with his rematch loss to WEC featherweight champion Mike Thomas Brown (18-4) at WEC 41 in Sacramento June 7 and there was speculation Faber could leave the WEC.
The WEC also confirmed four undercard match-ups for WEC 44 in Las Vegas November 18 where Brown will defend his title from challenger “Junior” Jose Aldo (14-1).
Featherweights “The Gun” Diego Nunes (11-2) and LC Davis (13-1) will fight for a top 145-pound contership, as will featherweights Cub Swanson (13-3) and John Franchi (5-1).
Bantamweights “2 Quick” Seth Dikun and Frank Gomez (6-1) will square off.
And, “Bully” Ricardo Lamas (6-1) and James Krause (10-1) will fight at lightweight.
WEC 44 will take place at The Pearl at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas November 18.
