UFC President Dana White has always been one to voice his opinion regardless of how others may react to his take on things. As such, when Jon Jones referred to coach Greg Jackson having advised him to turn down a fight with Chael Sonnen with only a week to prepare, White took the opportunity to lay into the trainer during a conference call with media.
However, it looks like the outspoken executive won’t be spouting out any similar rants in the future so long as Jones remains at the top of his game. According to White, he came to an agreement with “Bones” to no longer blast Jackson even if he has to swallow his pride in order to stay silent.
“When I sat down with Jon Jones and we talked, I made a deal with Jon. I’m not going to say anything about Greg Jackson,” said White to a group of reporters after UFC on Fuel 5 had concluded. “I think you guys know my opinion and how I feel. It hasn’t changed. I’m just not going to talk about Greg Jackson. It’s good news. I will keep my big mouth shut about Greg Jackson. That’s part of my deal with Jones.”
MMAFighting was on scene and able to record White’s comments.
As indicated by his statement, though White may not necessarily appreciate Jackson’s approach to the industry, he simply won’t share his thoughts with the public anymore. White’s problem with Jackson existed prior to Jones’ actions regarding Sonnen, materializing mainly as a result of the occasionally cautious approach Jackson’s fighters take inside the Octagon.
