While everyone is reeling from the surprise that the UFC let go of Middleweight Yushin Okami, the UFC has made a few more cuts as well. The UFC also let go Ultimate Fighter Season 16 finalist Mike Ricci. Ricci lost against Colton Smith in the finals, but was able to rebound with a win over Colin Fletcher at UFC 158 in Montreal. Ricci was back in the octagon at UFC 165 in Toronto, Canada, but dropped a split decision to Myles Jury.
UFC President Dana White reported the news to Yahoo! Sports. The UFC has promised to cut a number of fighters as their roster is expanding, and White explained “We have a full roster and there are guys who deserve opportunities. When you bring guys in, someone has to go. That’s why these fights are so meaningful.”
