VIDEO: UFC's Rich Franklin: Losses to Silva gave me the ability to fight legends like Vitor Belfort.

Posted On: September 17, 2009 at 9:16am

Former UFC middleweight champ “Ace” Rich Franklin (26-4) sat down with Fighters.com at SACAN Family Martial Arts in Cincinnati to discuss where he fits in now in the UFC and his future and legacy in and out of MMA.

Franklin will fight “Phenom” Vitor Belfort (17-8) in the main event at UFC 103 in Dallas Saturday, the third consecutive opponent whose name is as big as Franklin’s in MMA.

i agree on his answer to the 195 weight class, the last thing the UFC needs is to follow in the footsteps of boxing in which there is too many belts, i think it all gets a bit too confusing. in regards to the title i think rich has to look past the middlewight having lost twice to silva, and i feel he should look to push the 205 division and set up a rematch along the line with lyoto. id also love to see a re-match with hendo after losing a very close split decision at 93.

i think the future is still bright for rich, although he has touched on retirement i still think he holds a key role to the ufc, but at 205

nice interview, rich is a really nice guy and i cant wait to see him in more fights

im tipping rich to beat vitor by decision
