It’s not bizarre to think of a woman as lacking testicles. Quite the contrary, actually. That being said, when it comes to the notion unbeaten Strikeforce bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey doesn’t have a set of proverbial Cajones ”“ not literal ones ”“ it’s a different story.

Rousey has overcome a number of struggles in her personal and professional life, emerging this year as a legitimate star and widely-respected competitor. Of course, some of her actions have also drawn criticism including that of former Strikeforce title-holder Marloes Coenen.

Coenen was recently asked to give her thoughts on Rousey’s refusal to face Cristiane Santos at a heavier weight and said the mindset showed a lack of courage on the Olympic judoka’s part.

“She is a great grappler. The way she took out Sarah Kaufman was amazing and so unexpected to me. But she does lack balls,” offered Coenen in an honest admission to Punch Drunk Gamer. “She judo’d at 154 pounds, entered Strikeforce at 145 pounds and when she had to fight Cris Cyborg she dropped to 135 pounds.”

While Coenen may not respect Rousey’s decision, she definitely appreciates the way “Rowdy Ronda” markets herself and brings attention on the female side of MMA.

“Having said all this, career wise it was really smart of her and she deserves a masters in PR,” said Coenen, referring to Rousey’s success at bantamweight rather than featherweight where she started (and Santos competes). “She doesn’t care how she gets there, as long as she gets there. And she’s successful at it.”

Rousey Explains Why She Won’t Fight Santos Outside of Bantamweight Division

Coenen is currently signed to Invicta FC though clearly Rousey may put out a call for her to come over to Strikeforce given the Dutch grappler’s championship credentials and aforementioned commentary. The 20-5 Coenen is coming off a decision win over Romy Ruyssen and has racked up other past victories over the likes of Kaufman, Roxanne Modafferi, and Liz Carmouche.
