Andrei Arlovski turns down fight with Sean McCorkle

Former UFC heavyweight champ Andrei Arlovski snapped a four-fight skid last month at ProElite’s revival in Hawaii with a third round TKO of Ray Lopez, a bout marking the first of what is expected to be multiple appearances in the promotion for “The Pitbull”. In fact, Arlovski has even been rumored for action on the re-formed organization’s mainland debut in November.
However, it appears at least one opponent ProElite had in mind for Arlovski will not be in the cards – Sean McCorkle.
According to a report from MMAFighting where multiple sources were cited, Arlovski’s team turned down “Big Sexy” as an option for undisclosed reasons.
Given Lopez’s record was 5-2, it’s hard to believe the issue would relate to Arlovski feeling as though the 12-2 McCorkle is inferior competition. However, after the danger the 32-year old Belarusian found himself in at times against the overmatched Lopez, speculation might point to self-preservation as the real root of his disapproval.

McCorkle has won both of his fights since being released by the UFC with a pair of first frame tap-outs. He has finished eleven of the twelve opponents he’s defeated with the bulk coming by way of submission.
