A new bout has been announced for the UFC Fight Night 31 card. UFC officials have confirmed that lightweights Yves Edwards and Yancy Medeiros have been tapped to fight on the undercard. This is likely a win or go home match for Edwards as he is 2-4 in his last six bouts. Medeiros picked up his first loss of his pro career as he made his UFC debut at UFC 159. Fellow newcomer Rustam Khabilov took Medeiros down and when he braced himself for impact on the mat he broke his thumb resulting in a technical knockout win for Khabilov.
UFC Fight For The Troops, also known as UFC Fight Night 31, takes place on November 6 at Fort Campbell in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In the main event, Lyoto Machida will make his middleweight debut against Tim Kennedy. While both fighters are rebounding from losses, many feel Machida should have gotten the nod over Phil Davis. This is the third time the UFC is hosting a Fight For The Troops, and the proceeds from the event will benefit injured soldiers returning from overseas.
