The Nevada State Athletic Commission has denied “Rumble” Anthony Johnson’s (5-2) appeal to have his controversial TKO loss to Kevin Burns (7-1) changed to a No Contest.
NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer stated, “Based on advice from the Nevada Attorney General’s office, the appeal was rejected due to lack of remedy.”
The 19 July welterweight bout was stopped in the third round by referee Steve Mazzagatti when Johnson was poked in the eye and he fell to the mat.
The TKO victory was awarded to Burns, despite a previous warning not to eye-poke.
Johnson has undergone surgery to repair a detached retina and has since fully recovered.
