Maximo Blanco dropping to featherweight for UFC run

Despite the illegal kicks and attempted fence-grabbing, two things were very apparent when Maximo Blanco mixed it up with Pat Healy this past weekend at “Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov” – his skill and his size, or lack thereof as the case may be.
As a result of the defeat it appears the smallish lightweight will move down to test the featherweight waters for the first time in his career and should be set to make his UFC debut at some point in the near future.
The news was first reported through the Facebook page of his management team and has since been confirmed by MMAFighting.
The loss to Healy dropped Blanco’s record to 8-3-1 and snapped a six-fight winning streak. The 27-year old Venezuelan has scored seven of his victories as the result of a TKO with all of his success coming in Japan under the SRC/Pancrase banners.
