Alan Belcher booked for bout with Yushin Okami at UFC 155

It looks like Chris Weidman and Tim Boetsch won’t be the only highly-touted middleweights competing on December 29 at UFC 155, as the UFC has apparently put a tilt together featuring Alan Belcher and Yushin Okami. Belcher is considered by many to be a win or two away from a title-shot, while Okami is a former top contender and one of the toughest draws in the division.

The fight will also mark the second meeting between the two, as Okami beat Belcher in 2006 by way of decision.

MMAFighting was first to report the rumble.

Belcher holds an overall record of 18-6 and has come out with his hand raised in four straight fights including those against Patrick Cote and most recently Rousimar Palhares. Sixteen of his wins have involved some form of stoppage.

Belcher Doesn’t Care About Being #1 Contender

Meanwhile, the 27-7 Okami is coming off an August victory over Buddy Roberts. He also holds past victories against the likes of Mark Munoz and Nate Marquardt.

In addition to the middleweight match-ups, UFC 155 is also set to feature fights between Chael Sonnen-Forrest Griffin, Joe Lauzon-Gray Maynard, and Junior dos Santos-Cain Velasquez.
