Chris Leben locking horns with Karlos Vemola at UFC 155

The UFC middleweight division is about to get an injection of entertainment in the form of Chris Leben’s upcoming return to the Octagon where he’s made a name for himself as a fan-friendly slugger aimed at exciting fans and rendering foes into puddles of goo. Unfortunately, Leben’s reputation has also been marked by a struggle with substance abuse leading to a yearlong suspension from competition after failing a November drug test.

However, Leben already has an opponent lined up for his first fight back when the sentence expires in a few months. According to the UFC, Leben will take on fellow finisher Karlos Vemola on December 29 at UFC 155.

Vemola is 9-3 with stoppages in all of his wins. He was last seen losing to Francis Carmont in July after going 2-1 in his previous three with success against Seth Petruzelli and Mike Massenzio.

Like Vemola, Leben tends to end the evenings of his adversaries before scorecards come into play. The 22-8 “Crippler” has racked up twelve TKOs and five submissions in his ten-year career including those in victories over Mike Swick, Jorge Santiago, and Wanderlei Silva.

A Closer Look at Leben’s Last Fight

UFC 155 is scheduled to feature headlining action from heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos, who puts his gold up for grabs against Cain Velasquez, as well as bouts such as Chael Sonnen-Forrest Griffin and Joe Lauzon-Gray Maynard.
