Hong Man Choi v Minowaman, "JZ" Cavalcante v Daisuke Nakamura Added to DREAM 11
By: Chad Edward Posted On: September 9, 2009 at 11:12amSeven-foot plus Mongolian “Techno Goliath” Hong Man Choi (2-3) will follow-up his karmic ass-kicking of admitted ‘roid abuser Jose Canseco (0-1) versus Japanese giant slayer “Minowaman” Ikuhisa Minowa (40-28-8) in the second iteration of DREAM’s Super Hulk tournament at DREAM 11 in Yokohama 6 October, DREAM announced Wednesday.
Middleweight “Minowaman” counts among his colossal kills submissions of “Beast” Bob Sapp (10-5-1), “Predator” Don Frye (20-7-1), and “Butterbean” Eric Esch (10-6-1) and a TKO of “Giant” Paulo Cesar Silva (2-6).
A lightweight match-up between Brazilian “JZ” Gesias Cavalcante (12-2-1) and Japanese Daisuke Nakamura (18-9) has also bolstered the DREAM 11 fight card.
One-time title contender Cavalcante is coming off two consecutive two-round UD losses, most recently to “Crusher” Tatsuya Kawajiri (15-5-2) at DREAM 9 in Yokohama 26 May.
Crafty Nakamura won a three-round UD over “Hurricane” Ferrid Kheder (11-3) at M-1 Global Breakthrough in Kansas City 28 August, covered live by Fighters.com.
“African Assassin” Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (6-4) has been left opponent-less in the Super Hulk semi-final because Strikeforce light heavyweight champion “Dreamcatcher” Gegard Mousasi (22-2-1) has pulled up lame and withdrawn from the tournament.
Fighters.com is working on exactly what Mousasi’s injury is and will post details when I have them. DREAM will find Sokoudjou a replacement, most likely from among the Super Hulk first-round losers.
DREAM 11 will open the doors of the Yokohama Arena at 5:00 PM local time 6 October. Tickets starting at 5,000 yen can be purchased at ePlus.jp.
