Sara McMann making Strikeforce debut against Liz Carmouche in November

It looks like Strikeforce bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey is about to have a new top contender on the horizon after a bout between unbeaten newcomer Sara McMann and former title-contender Liz Carmouche was announced for the organization’s November 3 show in Oklahoma City. Both women are among the toughest draws in their division and are coming off successful showings under the Invicta FC banner.

The show is set to be headlined by heavyweight action from Daniel Cormier-Frank Mir with a middleweight title-fight also scheduled between champ Luke Rockhold and undefeated striker Lorenz Larkin.

McMann, who won a silver medal as an Olympic wrestler, is seen as one of the biggest threats to Rousey’s perfect record based on her pedigree as an elite athlete and mat-based savvy. She is 6-0 thus far in her MMA career including success against Hitomi Akano and Shayna Baszler.

The 7-2 Carmouche is coming off finishes of Ashleigh Curry and Kaitlin Young. She also owns a past victory over Jan Finney, plus she looked sharp as an overmatched greenhorn in earlier bouts against Sarah Kaufman and Marloes Coenen.
