The next obstacle in Canadian youngster Rory MacDonald’s run towards an awkward discussion about fighting TriStar teammate Georges St. Pierre for the UFC’s welterweight belt will come on December 10 in Toronto when the organization returns to the record-setting city for UFC 140.
MacDonald’s date with the colorful Ebersole was confirmed through the UFC’s website.
“Ares” will enter the bout with a severe disadvantage from an experience standpoint, as Ebersole boasts nearly 5X the total career fights as the 22-year old phenom, but is riding the wave of eye-opening performances against Carlos Condit, Nate Diaz, and most recently Mike Pyle. The 12-1 MacDonald has finished eleven of the opponents he’s beaten with Diaz being the only exception.
Ebersole’s stock has also been rocketing up after beating Chris Lytle and Dennis Hallman, the latest of which came at UFC 133 and was unfortunately known more for Hallman’s choice of ring attire than Ebersole’s dominating performance. The well-manscaped 30-year old is 48-14-1 in his career with 34 stoppages and past wins over Carlos Newton, Nick Thompson, and Matt Horwich.
