Urijah Faber hoping to see action again before year’s end

Even though UFC bantamweight Urijah Faber may have come up short against Renan Barao a few months back in a bout for the division’s interim strap, history has shown “The California Kid” is never too far away from another crack at a championship if he’s able to put a win or two together. In fact, four of Faber’s last eight fights have involved either a WEC or UFC belt being on the line.

While Faber isn’t expecting another go at gold right away, the 33-year old does appear ready to get back on the horse and begin the journey back towards a title-shot.

“He’d like to compete one more time (this year) and earn his way back to the top,” explained Faber’s manager (Mike Roberts) in a recent interview with MMAWeekly Radio.

No specifics were offered in terms of potential opponents for the 26-6 fan-favorite, but one foe not on Faber’s mind is rival Dominick Cruz.

“They’re a ways away from putting that fight together,” acknowledged Roberts, pointing to Cruz’s upcoming unification fight with Barao and Faber’s need to earn a few victories first.

With Cruz and Barao off the table, realistic possibilities for Faber’s next outing likely include Mike Easton, Ivan Menjivar, and Michael McDonald.
