Michigan gets Rampage vs Machida, UFC 123

The ufc will visit Michigan for the first time in a long time, when the promotion brings UFC 123 to Detroit’s footsteps.
Well, sort of Detroit. The suburbs just outside of the brash city, Auburn Hills, will actually play host to the UFC’s return to Michigan after a near 14-year absence.
According to MMAJunkie, news of the event was made official when initially released by the “Detroit Free Press“.
According to which, several cities were considered before the UFC settled on Michigan, which last hosted a UFC event way back 1996–over 14 years ago–at “UFC 9: Motor City Madness”, which featured (at the time) a much anticipated fight between then World Superfight Champion, Ken Shamrock against the Ultimate Ultimate Champion (no, I’m not making this stuff up), Dan Severn.
Cities under consideration ranged from San Antonio, to Cleveland, and even Pittsburgh–which would have proved probably the first ever pro-Koscheck crowd, but it looks like Josh will have to suffer the while he attempts to claim the welterweight title from Georges St. Pierre from the Canadian’s backyard in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The event is expected to feature former UFC light heavyweight champion’s Quinton “Rampage” Jackson pitted against Lyoto Machida, as the main event of the evening. The card takes place on Nov. 20 before a capacity 23,000 seated arena at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
So, anyone from Detroit excited, or am I the only one? I’m not from Detroit–thank god–but I’d be excited for this event being there none the less. Agreed?

I am very excited about the Detroit announcement. I attended UFC9 and it was one of the worst events in the history of MMA.
This has been a long time coming for our state and I am sure it will be much better than 9 was. The Palace is a great venue to host. Back in the day they did boxing Fight Nights on a regular basis, and even from the upper deck you could clearly see the action in the ring.
